The Info you NEED in Today's Real Estate Market

Frontline Plus has been found to be a cause of major allergic reactions in some pets, both cats and dogs.
Some of the reactions are loss of hair and very itchy skin.
There has been some reported deaths.
My cocker spaniel , Mitzi, broke out in sores all over her body.
A friend of mine had a cat that lost most of her hair and looked like she had mange. She took her off of Frontline and within a few months her symptoms cleared and her hair grew back out. Another acquaintenance had the same issues. Why some pets and not others is unknown. Perhaps they have some type of auto immune deficiency which set the stage.
Just be advised to be on the look out and watch for any substance and flea prevention you put on your pets.

I have stopped using it because it has always irritated my dogs. But, now I'm stuck because I don't know what else to use! Any suggestions? I asked my vet for a more holistic or an alternative treatment, but she didn't have any other recommendations. I have taken one of my dogs to a holistic vet for some other ailments, and she was a Godsend, although very (very very) expensive. If you have any suggestions for a more holistic or alternative treatment for fleas and ticks, please share!

Thanks for starting this group, by the way!
Hi Jeannie

I would 'suggest you get Diane Stein's book "The Natural Remedy Book For Dogs and Cats'

She suggests Garlic and apple cider vinegar in the water(teaspoon a day in water or on food)
I have had luck with Tea Tree Oil shampoo and Neem Shampoo(made by Ark's Naturals)

Healthy animals have few issues with fleas.
I was reading through her book tonite to find natural support for Mitzi's issues and found quite a bit of information.

The garlic and apple cider vinegar are also anti inflammatory and help the immune system.
Tomorrow I am going to go get a few things from the Health Food Store.

You are welcome and thanks for joining.
Great discussion! I have also heard that some people with both birds and dogs/cats have had their birds come down with ailments from Frontline! I do not use them anymore and do use the garlic/vinegar addition. Seems to work well and not with any reaction from any animal in the household. This is important as we used to be a rescue for unwanted exotics and could not bear to have them put through any other stresses we can avoid.
Garlic/Vinegar has worked? Great....I am on the right path then. I was not aware of the bird issue! It seems the more this has been coming out in the open the more I am finding out.
